daily sudoku x print tab actually prints the daily sudoku puzzle instead of the daily x sudoku

Andrew Stuart writes:
Can't find this problem but I did find a bug where the print button was ignoring the lvl=X parameter and not showing the selected grade puzzle. Fixed now.

My apologies for the quite tardy response. To answer you directly, I recommend that aligned pair exclusion be swapped with finned X-wing which is relatively common and easy to spot in the diabolic puzzles.

Hi Andrew,

I am an absolute fan of your weekly extreme str8ts, and it is always, wherever I am, an elementary part of my Sundays.

In order to avoid all these slips and to help my memory (I am getting older ...), I have created an Excel file (using VBA) which does all the standard eliminations (incl. setti elimination and fishes up to dimension 4 or 5 - I don't remember), which displays for each line and row all "musts", "cannots", and "might bes", and which allows to highlight a certain figure in every cell. It's not a professional tool, but maybe some guys from the community would like it. Would it ok for you, if I offered it in the discussion area? Not for commercial reasons (I don't want to get anything for it), but just for the fun.

And, since writing to you anyway - I have always wondered, how you generate these gorgeous puzzles. No, you don't have to disclose your secrets, but maybe, you can give the principle idea? And, maybe, others would be interested, too.

Best regards
Martin (one of your thousands of admirers)

Fixed the problem with notes on Str8ts player. Believe it was an issue less than 24 hrs.

Load Sudoku:

The solver says that this puzzle is Easy or Moderate depending on the rotation of the board... it should be the same difficulty level regardless of the rotation

Andrew Stuart writes:
Yes this shows the top-left bottom-right bias in the solver. It is also on the boundary - which means small changes might lead to a similar score.

Load Sudoku:

In the partially solved puzzle above the step is a 3D Medusa, producing this output:

3D Medusa

(RULE 5): Uncoloured candidate 2 in E6 can see coloured 2 elsewhere and an oppositely coloured 4 in its own cell. It can be removed.

In the solver the 2 in E6 was coloured not uncoloured. Perhaps, should have coloured the 2 in E5 instead?.

Andrew Stuart writes:
Hard to tell if the 2 in E6 was coloured – you can make a case for it if you trace the chains manually but lets say it was a colour. If it was blue then we’d have two blue numbers in the same cell. A no-no. If it was green we’d have two green candidates in the row. Also a no-no. So it doesn’t really matter. Its about the 4 in E6 and the 2 in G6

Hi, I’ve suddenly encountered a problem I haven’t had before , when pasting in a 81 long string for the importing a Sudoku nothing happens. I have been doing this for a couple of years without any issue but suddenly the import doesn’t work, this is on iOS, I haven’t tried on a widows computer?

Andrew Stuart writes:
I figured out the issues with Import this morning. Missing brackets. 2.28.3, let me know how that goes for you

I created some bugs in 2.28 but hoping they are gone now. Can you [CRTL]+[F5] in case you need to refresh manually. Does the import problem persist? Working for me this morning

An issue has suddenly appeared when my blog links to your solver. It seems to be dropping the first digit of each puzzle.
You can see what I mean here:

Andrew Stuart writes:
Yes sorry I broke it fixing an issue with printing and then broke the fix. Try again now. Appreciate the report
